The Freakin' Weekend
I've had a wonderful three-day weekend. On Saturday, I attended the "Second Annual Chuncheon Pub Crawl," which lasted from 5 PM to 5 AM and spanned 5 different bars. I must admit, I drank a few beers. There were several games throughout the night (trivia, beer pong, scavenger hunt), and my team lost each one miserably.
Here we are, still mostly sober: Les Test Ecoles.
A whole bunch of white people. The girl with the megaphone is Gretchen. She and I work at the same school, and we're BFFs.
Then we drew vulgar things on each others' shirts. I, however, kept mine clean.
This picture was taken toward the end of the night, during the scavenger hunt. Several people had puked or passed out by this point. In fact, I think the guy with the sparkler had just barfed like two minutes before I took this. I handled my booze pretty well, though. Somehow, photos always get mysteriously blurry somewhere around 3 AM.
I spent most of Sunday recovering, so I was back to 100% by Monday morning. I still really felt like I needed another day, though. Thankfully, today was my school's foundation day (birthday), so classes were canceled. But I woke up early anyway because some of the teachers and I had made plans to go hiking. We climbed a nearby mountain called Samaksan (I think), which is supposedly the largest mountain in the area. It took us about two hours to get to the top.
At the bottom of the mountain. Can you guess which one is me?
Someone left their socks out to dry on the mountain.
These flower leaves tasted like Sour Patch Kids.
Dinner.
The summit. I had the settings wrong on my camera, so it's way overexposed.
We visited this temple on the way down.
Then, we all went out for a dish made with buckwheat noodles called makooksu.
I feel like I learned a lot of Korean today. I hope I can remember at least some of it.

sounds like you are having a blast. how are classes going?
ReplyDeleteClasses are going fine. Of course, I prefer being far away from school, but I feel pretty comfortable teaching now. Things are going smoothly.
